The L2 Phonetics course reinforces students’ understanding of the English sound system and advances their ability to speak and perceive English accurately and naturally. It builds on the basics learned in first year by focusing on how sounds, syllables, stress, and intonation function in real spoken communication. Students learn how words and sentences are pronounced in connected speech and how features like stress and pitch contribute to meaning.
