Academic Study Skills

By the end of the course, students will be able to:

  • Approach their studies with a strategic and self-aware mindset.

  • Manage their academic workload efficiently.

  • Engage with source material critically rather than passively.

  • Communicate their ideas clearly and appropriately in the two main formats (reports and essays) required in university assessments.

In essence, Academic Study Skills is the "how-to" manual for university success, transforming students from passive recipients of information into active, organized, and critical participants in the academic community.

Students are asked to present different topics during sessions and discuss them with their classmates to raise debates about social and cultural aspects  all over the world. 

Phonetics and phonology

Training course on English sound system ,in particular segmental and suprasegmantal phonetics that is intended for sophomores 

Grammar

For learning grammar, onsite learning is employed.
In case the students have some inquiries or ambiguities, the message box is available on moodle to offer the students opportunities to ask any further questions related to the academic subject

Course Description

LECTURE ET ÉTUDE DE TEXTES English Language and Literature - Freshman Level

This foundational course develops critical reading and analytical skills through the study of diverse non-literary texts in English. Students will engage with authentic materials including academic articles, essays, journalistic writing, speeches, reports, digital media, and professional documents to build essential comprehension and interpretation abilities.

Course Objectives:

  • Develop advanced reading comprehension strategies for various text types
  • Master techniques for analyzing argumentative, expository, and persuasive texts
  • Understand rhetorical strategies, discourse structures, and author's purpose
  • Build academic and professional vocabulary
  • Identify bias, tone, and intended audience in different text formats
  • Develop critical thinking and evaluative reading skills
  • Produce analytical responses and structured commentaries

Grammar - Groups 3 and 4

     This module introduces students to the fundamental structures and functions of English grammar in meaningful and communicative contexts. It aims to help learners understand how grammatical forms contribute to clear and effective expression in both spoken and written English. Through guided explanations, examples, and interactive exercises, students will explore key grammatical concepts.
