This course is for first year students who are studying Linguistics for the first time. In the first semester, students study linguistics, and in the second they study phonetics.
The objectives of the course are:
1. Provide the students with the basic notions in linguistics and phonetics
2. Enable them to have basic understanding of these two subjects
3. Give them enough practice in phonetics'
4. Provide an introduction to the history of linguistics and its branches
5. Provide an introduction to the branches of phonetics
6. Stimulate the students' engagement and love for these two important subjects
