This module is designed to introduce second language (L2) students to the major aspects of British and American civilization. In the first semester, the focus is on British civilization, exploring its historical development, political system, social structure, and cultural heritage. In the second semester, attention shifts to American civilization, examining the formation of the United States, its institutions, cultural diversity, and global influence. The module aims to help students understand how history, culture, and language interact, while developing their critical thinking and intercultural awareness. By comparing both civilizations, students gain a deeper insight into the cultural backgrounds of the English-speaking world.
